Clinical Biochemistry

Clinical Biochemistry provides a full Biochemistry service to Bedford Hospital NHS Trust and local General Practitioners.

In addition to standard biochemical profiles, the department provides comprehensive endocrine profiles, tumour markers, therapeutic drug monitoring.

Cardiac markers including Pro BNP, haematinics, diagnostic and monitoring markers of diabetes, investigations and monitoring of gammopathy/paraproteins and screening for drugs of abuse are also provided. The department also offers a National Porphyria service and SHBG assays for local NHS Trusts.
