Richard Jones - Chief Executive Officer

Richard has worked in the healthcare industry for more than 25 years, in a range of public and private sector roles. He began his career in the NHS, going on to hold a number of executive positions in the private health sector. These include Director of London Bridge Hospital, Operations Director and Deputy Managing Director of BUPA Hospitals Limited and Commercial Director of Spire Healthcare. 

Richard has a track record of driving growth through strategic, operational and commercial management of healthcare services, while maintaining close engagement with clinicians and staff to help ensure the delivery of high quality healthcare.

 

 

 Dr Jonathan Edgeworth - Medical Director

Jonathan Edgeworth is a Consultant Microbiologist and Director of the Centre for Clinical Infection and Diagnostics Research at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.  He led the Guy’s and St Thomas’ Pathology Directorate into formation of GSTS Pathology in 2009 and has held a number of senior leadership roles in the organisation since formation.

 

 

David Brown - Chief Financial Officer

David joined GSTS in September 2012, the start of the growth phase for the business. Previously, David has held a number of finance roles at PwC, BSkyB and more latterly at Eurostar, where for the last three years he was the Finance Director. During his nine years at Eurostar, revenue more than doubled and in 2010, the business went through a significant corporate restructure to become a self-funding, independently run private company with public stakeholders. David was a key member of the leadership team driving through this restructure and the business achieved profitability for the first time in 2011, enabling it to reinvest in new high speed trains and customer-focussed innovation. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1997 and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

 

 

 

Robert McEwan - Chief Operating Officer 

Robert has over 20 years NHS experience at regional and district level, latterly working on the Board of successful Acute Foundation Trusts in the North of England.  He was previously the Executive Director of Operations and Business Development at County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, and Director of Operations at Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.  Robert has a PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health Medicine, and Masters in Business Administration (DUBS). 

 

 

 

Steve Bennett - Human Resources Director

Steve has over 20 years' experience at HR Director level in a broad range of sectors, both domestically and internationally. For the past 10 years he has worked in the health and social care sector in PLC, Limited Company and Not-for-Profit environments.

From 2002 to 2010 Steve was Group HR Director of Care UK where he was instrumental in the establishment of the Group's Healthcare division, which operates a range of NHS Treatment Centres, Clinical Assessment & Treatment Centres, GP led Healthcare Centres, OOH and Urgent Care services and Offender Health services."

 

 

 

Marc O'Brien - Chief Information Officer & Programme Director

Marc has a background in IT and business change. He has considerable cross sector experience from ranging from Financial Services to Travel & Transport and Healthcare. Prior to GSTS Marc held senior positions in Legal & General, BAA and Spire Healthcare. 


  

 

Colin Carmichael - Commercial Director

Colin has wide-ranging experience of commercial management roles. He has worked for service providers across the public, private and third sectors - for example, managing bids for outsourced services through to completion. He has also worked for service commissioners in the public and private sectors, helping them to develop and implement new service delivery strategies. In recent years, he has completed long term assignments in healthcare, welfare to work, and criminal justice and policing. This has included work with BUPA Hospitals, Shaw Trust (a disability charity), the National Offender Management Service and the Metropolitan Police. His international experience includes Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Colin was previously a partner with KPMG Management Consulting and a specialist consultancy practice.

 

 

 

Jan Teahon - Pathology Modernisation Director 

 Jan's years in Pathology operations have seen her significant leadership experience put to good use as she guides the design and improvement of Pathology service delivery across a number of different Trusts with great success. Joining King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 2001, Jan has worked tirelessly to drive change in pathology services bringing her detailed knowledge and understanding of the key issues on the current NHS modernisation agenda to the fore. 

 

 

 

Dr. Robert Hangartner - Governance Director

Robert previously worked for Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust as a Divisional Director and has considerable experience working with the Department of Health and private pathology and healthcare sectors.
