The IMD Unit has strong links with the Paediatric Metabolic Clinical team based in the Evelina Children's Hospital. Scientists join multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to provide comprehensive diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of these rare conditions. MDT working underpins the quality of the service offered at GSTS where there is always a patient behind every result.
The laboratory is staffed with highly qualified and motivated scientists. Many are working towards higher qualifications and participate in R&D and clinical audit projects as part of their day to day work. They have a strong track record training specialists in IMD and take many scientists on secondment, providing a fast track portfolio for state registration.
