Result Delivery for GPs

GSTS Pathology is committed to providing the safest, most secure and efficient methods of delivering reports and other important information to our customers.

From 4 April 2011, GSTS replaced the paper envelopes previously used to deliver reports with new, safer, security sealed plastic wallet.

The new wallets remove any potential issues with lost or damaged envelopes due to weather conditions, minimise potential contamination due to sample spillage and reduce the amount of paper being used for reports.

This is on top of the obvious security benefits that are so important when transporting such sensitive material.

GSTS stresses however, that these wallets are for the provision of results only, not for specimens of any description

If you need to send a specimen for testing, please do so in the usual way. Do not put it in the plastic results wallet. To find out more about how specimens should be transported, see our Sample Transport page.

To help make the process of returning wallets as smooth as possible, GSTS asks that all our GP customers return the empty wallets on a daily basis via St Thomas’ blood sample couriers. By ensuring all wallets are returned as promptly as possible, you will be helping improve the efficiency of the service we are able to deliver to our customers.

If you have any questions about the change to the new plastic wallets, contact Central Specimen Reception Manager, Claire Hay on 0207 188 1174 or claire.hay@gsts.com or Central Specimen Reception Deputy Manager, Michelle Holder on 0207 188 1175 or michelle.holder@gsts.com
